A guide to "Capturing Motion" in low light situations

Friday Flickr Photo Critique #027

This week we have a couple photo stories from Scott MacWatters, a student and photojournalist from Texas. What drew me to Scotts photo stories was the way he got right into the action and does a great job telling the stories of the events thru his photography.

Both sets are strong. Scott gets up close and captures moments and details all necessary to the unfolding events. He goes beyond the action to not only get detail shots, but wide shots to put the events in context. All key components to good photojournalism.

Get close, then get CLOSER
Details, the details are so key to the story
Step back, inform the viewer of the surroundings and setting for the event
Commit, Tell the story from the beginning to end

I see Scott having a bright future with photojournalism and hopes he sticks with it.
