Let Us Edit Your RAW FILE Week 2

Jared Polin September 28, 2010 11

Each week on FroKnowsPhoto.com Greg and I try our hand at editing a RAW file that a reader sends in. If you are interested in having us edit your file please e mail one file to FroKnowsPhoto@gmail.com.

Greg and I will both tweak the RAW file in Adobe Lightroom without knowing how the other is editing the file. This is a great way for you to see the different techniques we use for editing our files.

You can see the final images right here from this weeks RAW File.

interesting, I think, Fro, yours is overdone; Greg’s looks more natural. But I do like how yours is warmer.
I look forward to more of these.

    Nice job!
I’m with Jared’s edition now. I really like the greener color of the water.

    Hi jared
I like the color of the sky in greg´s version, looks more vivid… but the sand looks faded and kinda overexposed..

in you version i like the color of the sand, but not the sky..
    my opinion..

    see ya

Greg may have trounced Jared in the infamous “Hotel-Room, Bed Fight” but Jared earns his revenge, and handily scores the K.O. in this round. There is absolutely no question whatsoever that Jared has produced the more vibrant, and pleasing, final image.

I love Jared’s work (again). The color of sky, water and sand are really appealing!

I like them both for different reasons. The clouds in Jared’s retain more detail than Greg’s, but the sand in Greg’s has more of a natural color than Jared’s. It’s a draw.

I like Greg’s sky but his water and sand seem a tad dull. Jared’s contrast pop seems to give his water and sky a bit of oversaturated look. So for me, the truth is in the middle. I think this is a very interesting and informative exercise and as a PS user, is making me think about looking into Lightroom. Keep up the good work.

I prefer Jared’s adjustments as there is more detail in the sand the water looks more vibrant as well. Greg’s image adjustment seems sorta FLAT though I tend to like more vivid coloring/images.
