This weeks photo of the Week takes us to Israel where I captured this image behind the Wailing Wall. Many of the classic images you see from Israel occur in front of the wall but I worked my way around the back to capture this cityscape.
What I love most about the shot is its something different for me. It doesn’t include a main focus on a person but made me try to capture something different, a city scape.
Take a listen as I break down how and why this image was created.

RAW NOT CROPPED

Thanks, that’s interesting, because I normally shoot landscapes and not people, so it’s nice to see someone else dealing with the reverse and reflecting on these things.
PS note that it’s not really in Israel. It’s in east Jerusalem, which is Israeli-occupied territory; see for example https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/is.html or the State Department website (the US doesn’t recognise east Jerusalem as part of Israel, in common with pretty much everywhere else, apart from Israel itself).
@michael marten thanks for the comment, I like to think of it as Israel lol.
Why did the photographer choose for aperture f/2.8?
Thanks, very interesting. I like how you broke down your composition along with why and how you shot it in regards to your settings.
Interesting as well… I shoot people so seeing good landscapes from a people person is refreshing.
