We had so many AMAZING entries come in for the ThinkTank Retrospective 20 contest that we decided to showcase them in this video. Beyond showcasing them we thought we would give out some bonus blackrapid straps to a few of the entries.
Check the video to see if yours was one of them!!!!

Yeh, that is probably true.
Thanks! The only thing that I would change with the picture is to crop it a bit differently(not so much black over the house in the background) and maybe not look into the camera.

Thanks for the critiques Greg and Jared. And yes my daughter’s fro is real. We picked it out with a Fro pick just for the contest. Glad you liked Jared on the TV in the background. I initially was going to try to clone out the TV but thought of putting something on the screen at the last minute. Can’t wait for the next contest.
That was fun, I’m sure it was difficult to pick winners. They were all a lot of fun. I hope the “Normal Rockwell” guy gets something good. I really liked that photo a lot!

Hi, I’m the ‘I don’t shoot raw’-girl. Congrats to all the winners and I have great news, sort of. My computer can finally open raw-files. But I still can’t open them in photoshop. I keep working on it! Next time I honestly can say ‘I shoot raw’!
And by the way, you made my day by showing my picture on your site.

Hey man, I really like the website and all the other stuff you guys are doing. But why do you keep ripping at Ken Rockwell? His website is one of the things that got me more into DSLR photography. And I guess that goes for more people, he speaks a different kind of photography, yet that makes you guys all the same. It’s all about creativity. I don’t think he deserves it to be ripped like that.

I like the winners a lot but the Norman Rockwell (a sublime pun on Ken?) was my favorite together with the crisp JPG. Get the Rockwell-guy some price, please!
Also: I like the one with the girl who eats raw – very beautiful(ly lit) face and pose.
What could’ve been better: Greg should get rid of the desktop video in his small window. I think it’s irritating and I would like to see a more “pure” image.
(I’m sure you could guess what my take is on the part of the hand of Ted Leonsis in that picture…)

Hey thanks for your comments on my picture “girl who eats raw” my concept was eat, think, drink raw….I appreciate the lighting comment…they really didn’t address my photo as a whole and just giggled at the “I shoot Raw” on my boob…I loved this contest and the guys have great advice, but I have to say I was a little disappointed…seems like a mans contest:(
I didn’t enter the contest after all, but I did think long and hard about what kind of self-portrait I’d be proud to display as a testament to my creativity and not just some two minute crap shot, photoshopped to death, with I Shoot Raw tacked on. I’m glad I didn’t waste my time, since most of the highly creative shots got eliminated pretty quickly (the Canon 50mm f/1.8 guy got robbed).
The Deck in my picture is a Sony DSR-11 DVCAM Recorder, it’s how we’d get video into Final Cut back in the day, and now I use it to inventory old video to an external drive for possible future use without having to track down an old DV tape.
I (the screaming guy) didn’t get the blackrapid straps
I’m looking for the next contest
How comes my image is not there?
I sent my image “Feb 28 (11 days ago)” but its not in the contest? Why?

Thanks and congrats to the winners!
I think they only chose their favorite 30 or so. There were about 100 entries, so they couldn’t have gone through all of them. Cool pic though!

That was fun to watch – cool
I really like the JPEG Crisp, that was creative!

“There’s nothing worse than a sharp image of a blurry concept”- Ansel. And that’s precisely what won this contest (rant omitted).
