Nikon D5100 Hands On

I had the chance to spend a few hours with the new Nikon D5100 at Allen’s Camera today. My first thoughts are that it has the body of a D3100 with the sensor of a D7000.

This is a killer little camera for someone just starting out or for someone who is looking to just capture video. What differentiates it form the D7000 is that it is smaller, built with more plastic, has less focusing points and has a smaller battery.

You can see the full res sample images that were captured form the camera by clicking the images below. Keep in mind they are jpegs that I edited in lightroom because you can not edit the RAW files form the D5100 yet.
