OFFICIAL Nikon Z50 Real World pREVIEW | a Mini Z6 / Z7?

NEW FroPack 1 Lightroom Presets https://froknowsphoto.com/presets/ (40% off)

This is a Real World pREVIEW of the Nikon Z50 APS-C Mirrorless Camera.  Think of this camera as a mini Z6 or Z7 being that it takes on a similar form factor and shares the Z mount.

Nikon was smart to go with one mount for cropped sensor cameras as well as full frame.  This means you can take your full frame Z lenses and use them on the cropped sensor cameras.

We were lucky enough to have a few hours with the camera and chose to take in into the Real World to photograph a todller running in the park and a skatboarder in the skate park.  All video shot outside of the studio was captured with a pre-production Z50.  All of my photos were captured with a pre-production Z50 as well.

One of the more surprising things to me was when I switched into Eye-Af and it worked.  I don’t mean it hit every so often, I mean it found the eye better than in the Z6 or Z7 even though Nikon says it’s the same eye af in both.

The camera focused fast, shot fast at 11 fps in it’s high mode and felt very good in the hands.  I enjoyed using the camera because it felt very familure.  The buttons were similar to the full frame mirrorless ones and the menus were basically the same.

At the end of the day I think this is a nice first go at a cropped sensor mirrorless camera from Nikon.
