Photo of the Week July 26th

Jared Polin July 26, 2010 5

You all know how much I love environmental portraits, this photo is the personification of one. It shows in this case Julie sewing away making a quilt that will be published in a very large magazine.

Take a listen to the audio to hear how this image was made along with the challenges that I faced. Check out Julies web site even if you are not into quilting just to see some of her work. It is really amazing what some people can do with fabric. Click Here

Great shot Jared!! I really love the environmental portraits as well. Can you make a tutorial on how to use white balance, color temperature in situations like this one? Thanks.

Very nice shoot FrO, I love the “crisp” and the low angle composition. It’s amazing how good this 14-24mm is in terms of distortion and sharpnes. There are some stuff we should look at when shooting wa isn’t? I can se straight image but the ciling just a little bit too the left, but I know how hard it is to hold distortion on the leash, as I’m shooting wide angle a lot and my Tokina is just the Distmonster lol! I love this type of photography my self as well as the candid. More stuff is comming about it and I can’t wait, anuway – good job man!

Very good composition for sure, love the mood too. She looks very focused and the photo shows that you were as well.

Jared, cool shot! Did you have it on a tripod or were you hand-holding it?

@Andy S. No trip pod, I am not a fan of using Tri-Pods on shoots like this, things happen to fast and I like to move around. So it was hand held at 5000 ISO!!!!
