A Touching Message

I wanted to share with you this message I got from Mitch Woods who before today I had never talked to. He was selected randomly to win some AdoramaPIX credit and he wrote me a touching message.

Sometimes the negativity in the online world can really eat at you and you take it personally. Well reading this message from Mitch really makes me feel like what I am doing has a positive effect on people.

Here is what he had to say.

Hi Jared!

Thanks so much for selecting me for your $50 credit bonus prize! For a long time now I’ve wanted to send you a personal message thanking you for all you do but understand how busy you are and didn’t want to burden you.

Last year I was diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma (about a month after hearing my wife and I were pregnant with our first child) and only give a few months to live. I was put on an immediate test trial treatments and was given some of the best doctors in the area for support. I’ve fought long and hard, last month I found out I beat the odds and am cancer free!

Before all of this photography was only a hobby for me, something I enjoyed to do but never made anything of. During my chemo treatment therapy days I would spend hours and hours on youtube wanting to learn all that I could to turn my hobby into a dream career for myself.

After coming across countless terrible videos, I stumbled on one yours (5 min portrait i think) and was instantly hooked to your great personality and very informative/humorous videos. Thank you for doing what you do.

While still in treatment, I started a photography business in my small city. The response I’ve gotten over these past 6 months has been incredible, we have 7 weddings booked already this year. The way it looks is that in the next few months I may be able to leave my job and do this full time while looking after my son, truly a life long dream for me.

I can honestly say that this is very largely due to you and I cant thank you enough. I was very driven to learn but with out the proper teacher I was starting to get frustrated, you kept me focused when i needed to be.

This past year has been difficult for me financially so I haven’t been able to support you with buying your dvds or your great shirts but believe me its on my list of things to purchase when we finally land on our feet again, I promise you that.

In just the past few weeks I was talking to my wife about getting into print packages for our clients rather then handing over a dvd of images. We had looked into adoramapix but haven’t had the money to make a purchase yet. This credit will be perfect for me to try this great service out!
