NEW $6,000 Apple Mac Pro “CHEESE GRATER” Hands-On Preview | WWDC 2019

I had the pleasure of being invited to Apple WWDC 2019 in San Jose California to attend the keynote speech.  There was no knowing what was going to be announced but I took a chance in the hope it would be well worth it…..and it was.

Today Apple introduced the brand NEW Mac Pro aka the “cheese grater pro” along with a new 6k HDR Pro Display.  I was able to go eyes on in person and share with you some of my thoughts on video.

The Mac Pro will start at $5,999 and probably go well up from there.  This is the most modual Mac Pro ever.  Please keep in mind this machine is not for everyone.  Heck, it’s probably not needed for most photographers.  The only photographers I could see needing the power of a machine like this would be people who are shooting medium format images and working with their massive RAW files.

From a personal standpoint, I will end up with at least one of these at the factory for Stephen or Dan to edit on.  Though we don’t know what the cost will be for a more spruced up version.

The monitor, on the other hand, is a completely different story.  It’s $999 just for the stand!!! Yes you heard that right, it’s a thousands bucks for the stand for the monitor.  The monitor is AMAZING, there’s no doubt about it.  It’s a 32 inch 6k HDR monitor, it’s kind of perfect.  It’s going to set you back another $6,000 when you add the stand.  Again, this isn’t for the every day person, this is for the BIG TIME PROS who need HDR and a display that powerful.

It was a lot of fun to attend this event and I appreciate the invite from Apple.
