Tips For How To Set Up Your Digital Camera On A Tripod: Tutorial

No matter what tripod use from Manfrotto, Benro, Vanguard, 3 Legged Thing, Gitzo, Induro, Silk, MeFoto it’s a general rule of thumb to keep the front leg lined up with the lens for better stability and less chances of it tipping over.

Wether you’re a beginner with a new Nikon, Canon, Sony, Fuji or any other DSLR or Mirrorless camera these tips are for you.

Keep in mind a lot depends on what you’re shooting as well as where. If you have a large video camera on a tripod and the balance gets knocked it could send your camera crashing to the ground. I try to follow the leg forward lined up with the lens as much as possible.

When possible and where needed I will add a sandbag or simply hang my camera bag from the hook on the bottom that most tripods have. This will help counter any wind or other accidental shakes.
