Flash Photography – Exposure Basics
Using a flash in photography is a great way to expand your knowledge and skillset. Unfortunately most people don’t understand how it works. When using flash the ISO and aperture of the lens both affect the ambient light as well as flash output. The shutter speed only affects ambient light. The final part of exposure with flash is the output of the strobe itself as well as the position relative to the subject. In this video I talk about that and show you how to setup a simple photo shoot to demonstrate it.
There is no magic 8-ball that will teach you about flash or camera exposure. Its one of those things you just have to learn by doing. That means practice, and the more of it the better you will understand it.
