How to print a full frame photo as an 8x10

One of the questions that comes in is “how do I print my image as an 8×10 without cropping it?”. In this video I walk you through the simple steps to take any full frame images and print it on any size paper. The only way around it is to leave a boarder and print your image smaller than the actually printed sheet. Sure the photo will not go edge to edge but you don’t want to crop your image.

The size that I chose for the actual image size was 9.1 inches by how ever it constrained the image. Depending on the final size of the print you will have to mess around with how much boarder you either want or don’t want.

This is really the only thing you can do to print your full frame images without cropping. Sometimes the white boarder will help you when you get an image framed as a matte can be added and your image will still be full frame. Full frame prints are based on the 2×3 ratio so 8×12, 12×18, 20×30, 24×36, 30×45, 50×80.

You do not need a FX sensor to print FULL frame. DX and FX sensors are still 2×3 ratio which means the prints will still be the same size. The process is the same for making a “full frame” print.
