Look what came in the mail, its the Think Tank Photo Slingo-O-Matic the worlds first reversible sling bag!!! Be sure to read below to see how you can get 5 BONUS points towards the Think Thank Retrospective 20 contest.
I say this all the time when I get a new bag, there is not one bag that will replace every other bag you own. There are bags that replace other bags but fall short at doing certain things you wish they did. Well I can say from the short time working with this bag that may be a nice substitue to a shoulder bag and a backpack.
I will have a full hands on review coming up soon where I will show you the main features of the bag, how much it holds and if it is a must buy or not.
Here is the official description of the bag from Think Tanks web site
Think Tank Photo introduces the Sling-O-Matic, the photo industry’s first sling bag that can be easily switched back and forth to either shoulder. The Sling-O-Matic’s adjustable, fully padded shoulder strap “automatically” slides along a set of rails to change which shoulder the bag can be worn on. This is the innovative solution to the problem inherent with other sling bags: only being designed to wear the sling bag over the same shoulder. With one smooth motion, the Sling-O-Matic can be quickly switched to the opposite shoulder without losing the characteristics that have made sling bags popular among photographers. The Sling-O-Matic series offers three unique bags to choose from, depending on the set of photo gear a photographer needs to carry.

The Sling-O-Matic looks pretty interesting. I have bot used a sling bag before, but it looks pretty flexible. Will see how the full field review goes!
Actually not sure I like the bag all that much. It sort of looks like a box with some straps on it. Wish it looked a little more curved on the edges. I like the strap though and that it is reversable. Think Tank makes great stuff.
I never liked slingbags for a number of reasons.. I prefer shoulder bags or belt systems; But this bag does look promising.
The sling-o-matic looks roomy, but just judging aesthetically, i’d much rather have the retrospective 20 on my shoulder!!
I saw this on their site the other day and was interested in how it worked so thanks for the preview, looks interesting. Although I prefer less conspicuous bags for my gear.
It looks like a well made think-tank bag, but it makes me wonder how much more useful it is than a standard backpack. If the way it slings turns out to be very convenient, I would give it a try!
it looks pretty sexy i gotta admit. i dont have a bag so i dont have anything to compare it to but its a lot better then when i have to shove my t2i in my backpack during bio cuz my teachers’ a…
from what i’ve seen this might just be a good bag for someone who just wants to carry around and protect their cammy but isnt really that much of a pro-ish bag like to carry a lot of stuff and that kinda thing =p just my thoughts on it so dont be mean ppl d=
I think the bag looks nice…but the feature that they claim to be the first, having an easy switch sling bag does not impress me. I personally find it uncomfortable when the sling is on my other shoulder, I keep slings on one shoulder and if I get tried then I take a rest!
It does look nice, looks like it could hold a lot of stuff. I would buying but only if it was less then the Kata 3n1 series.
This Think Tank sling bag is pretty nice. It is a PRO bag and I suppose the feature to change on which shoulder it sits comes in handy on longer tours. I am looking forward to see the full review!
Looks a bit squarish for my taste (built that way because of the main feature: shoulder switch, i suppose). On the plus side seems very sturdy and solid as all TTP products. Looking forward to see the full review.
Actually, from what you were able to show, it has my interest. I like TTP products also, but for any bag, I want to make sure it is one that I can get maximum use out of it. I look forward to you in-depth review before making up my mind whether to look into it further.
BTW, love the TT man lead out in the video.
This looks like a bag I could really use; looking forward to the full review.
Agree that it looks a bit boxy for me, but i’m sure it’s built solid.
Is a bit squarish, but looks much roomier than what I have now. Would love to give it a try.
Hm. Looks cool, but might be a bit too big for me!
Not so sure about the boxy design. If it will carry the essential lenses (HT) and 2 bodies, I might be interested, but it would have to work hard to replace my LowePro backpack.
Looks like an intriguing concept. I’m interested to see how it works out, could be a good ‘grab-bag’ to keep all your gear in and grab quick on the way out the door…
Looks like a good bag. But I personally would not change shoulders becaues slings on my opposite shoulder feel very uncomfortable , I would just take a rest. I would buy this if it was cheaper then the Kata 3n1 bags.
Definitely too boxy but I do like the one shoulder strap concept. I would have preferred something a bot more ergonomic on my back.
a little thought on the slingbag. Does look solid and it is a really nice idea to reverse it. Not so sure if that will hold up when slinging it on or off my shoulder. Looking forward to seeing if this is any better then my LowePro Fastpack 350 wich i’m using now and will hold a pro body, 70-200, 2 primes, 2 flashlights and a wide-angle lens in one go.
Enjoy the testing!
I think it’s too big to carry a sling bag. But it looks awesome.
The Sling-O-Matic looks pretty slick and i really need a decent bag for to hold my photo gears.
Love the idea of using both shoulders, I was starting to walk lopsided!
Looks interesting and with nice padding as always. Like Dripta said I think I would prefer something a bit more ergonomic.
Very interesting concept. I’m not sure about the boxiness but I think it’s worth a try. Can’t wait to see the full review.
Looks boxy, as has already been stated. But, I love the reversible action. I’m off to browse your site and see what the Hebrew trinity consists of…
Will NOT buy it
In terms of first appearances it seems quite bulky.
I am currently sporting a Lowepro Slingshot 100, which I am more then happy with….but! the notion of being able to move which shoulder the bag sits make me a little wet.
Would definitely have to try it out to see if it easier to sling round, accessibility ect
My interest is peeked.
reversable strap is one of the most attractive features of this bag. I have a bad back and I’m very interested in that option.
I like the bag cause it looks cool and super ergonomic but it dont really work for me…. maybe it looks better in person (3-D) but not on the video, it looks to boxy
I think the bag looks pretty bland! I have a Kata 3N-1 sling and it has alot more thought and design involved in the bag. Both are for lefty or righty, though the Kata was first. The Think Tank looks like it can hold more gear, but the idea of the sling is to be functional while carried and used, and who wants to carry their entire kit on their back while doing it? Id say check out the Kata bag and make your own choice.
Wow, it’s definitely bigger than my current Lowepro slingbag. The ability to change shoulders could be a big plus. I used to have to change shoulders while dangling my camera with my left hand. Hopefully this makes it easier. Will never know until I own it
